CHIROPRACTIC, MORE THAN JUST PAIN RELIEF
| A chiropractor’s primary focus is the treatment and management of the spine. Chiropractors are not a cure all, but they are a very important part of the Health Care team. Allow me to start by asking you a few questions:

Your spine is the control center for every function in your body. It is your lifeline. When your spine is balanced and positioned properly, it delivers maximum nerve energy and function throughout your entire body. However, when a spinal nerve that leads to your stomach for example, becomes pinched or chocked off what happens? Blood supply gets cut off, the stomach function becomes altered, sick, and eventual disease. If this spinal nerve is cut what happens? Of course, the organ would die. What we deal with in chiropractic is the pinched spinal nerve category also called a subluxation. These can be corrected through manual adjusting techniques performed in the chiropractic office. It is interesting to consider how many people walking around thinking they have a medical condition but may in fact have a nerve related condition. You ask how is all this possible? It’s quite simple when you understand that two types of nerves enter and exit the spinal column. The first category is the motor nervous system. These nerves primarily feed the muscles, bones and joints of the body. The second category is the autonomic nervous system. These are the nerves that feed the internal organs such as heart, lungs, stomach, blood vessels, lymphatics, eyes etc. When you get a pinched spinal nerve or subluxation, both motor nerves and autonomic nerves are affected. Although you feel the effects of pinched motor nerves much sooner such as back or leg pain, the autonomic nerves (internal organ nerves) usually don’t show up until much later in the disease process. The medical research to support this is extensive and conclusive. Common questions are: Why do I always get sick? There should be no mystery as to the effects and wonderful benefits of chiropractic treatment. It’s just simple physics. When a spinal bone or vertebrae subluxates, chiropractic adjustments restore the subluxated vertebrae back into its normal alignment. The three main causes of spinal subluxations are trauma, emotional stress and neuro-toxins. Trauma speaks for itself. But the most common subluxator is emotional stress. How many times have you been stressed out from financial pressures, problems at home or at work, causing your neck and shoulder muscles to tighten and pull. Stressed neck muscles often pull unevenly on the spine subluxating the vertebrae. The nerves on this area are called the brachial plexus nerves. They run up and down the neck, back of head, down the arms and to the ends of the fingers. A triad of symptoms occur causing pain in the neck, headaches, arm pain and numbness. This condition can be mistaken for carpal tunnel syndrome when in the wrists. Both however are successfully treated with chiropractic. The third most common cause of subluxations are neuro-toxins. Neuro-toxins are chemical imbalances in the body primarily from prolonged prescription drug use or by chemical toxins from modern food processing such as additives, dyes and preservatives. These chemicals can have a profound adverse effect on the nervous system and muscles of the spine causing the subluxation complex.Chiropractic adjustments are designed to restore misaligned vertebrae to their normal positions with skilled and specific hand maneuvers. This removes the neurological interferences that can cause pain, reduced function, reduced blood supply and oxygen; eventually causing symptoms and disease in the muscles, joints and organs they feed. Drugs are simply not designed for or capable of accomplishing the task of restoring misaligned vertebrae or correcting this type of disorder. That is why chiropractic treatment is so vital for the family; not just when you’re sick, but to help prevent it. Chiropractic care is a lot like orthodontics for the teeth. It is a process, and procedure which aligns bones over time. Regular adjustments can keep the joints open, lubricated and the nervous system healthy. It’s no wonder that medical studies have shown that if we can add correction to your spine, it can result in better sleep, better health, and a higher quality and more active lifestyle. Quality sleep dictates how you feel, act and perform each day. It is monumental. This is a natural byproduct of a well adjusted patient and a youthful look is directly proportional to your quality of sleep. To briefly continue on the subject of aging, a recent study comes to mind conducted in 2004 in a published article by Deborah Kado, M.D. Referring to the numerous internal disorders and diseases that occur from altered spinal position and posture. The segment on aging caught my eye. It talked about how long term spinal sympathetic nerve irritation “Appeared to precede old age and cause it. The spine becomes stiff first and old age follows. Therefore, we may say a man is as old as his spine, the arteries becoming hardened later from constant vaso-motor spasm, following sympathetic irritation.” Wow, that alone would motivate me for a chiropractic check up. “A study in 1976 by Vitek, referred to headaches, ear buzzing, extreme fatigue, and sleep disorders. It showed how the symptoms were linked to upper cervical spine and not vascular disease. Manual therapy (spinal adjustments) proved successful in 77% of the cases.” E.G. Metz Postdam Germany 1976. On a personal note, I use a very unique adjustive procedure in my clinic called C.R.T. short for Craniofacial Release Technique. The C.R.T. procedure was developed in the early 1900’s performed by Doctors of Chiropractic and Osteopathic Medicine. The C.R.T. technique has yielded excellent response with patients suffering from cranial pressure due to chronic allergies and sinus blockages. My patients just love it. Many of them are no longer medication codependent for this problem and when they feel symptoms coming on, they get in for their C.R.T. adjustment right away. Call our office today at 208-XXX-XXXX to find out how you may benefit from this wonderful technique. I discovered and developed a new technique by accident back in 2004 that I call Disc Release Therapy (D.R.T.) I praise God for the revelation. This unique technique has yielded great results for patients suffering from lumbar (low back) disc problems such as bulging discs, herniations, slipped and compressed discs, hip, buttock pain, leg pain and numbness (also known as sciatica). Prior to 2004, I only had marginal results with this difficult condition. Now, most of my patients with these complaints are experiencing complete and lasting relief. Call our office at 208-XXX-XXXX to see if you qualify for disc release therapy. Most patients experience relief on the first visit. | |
